About Me

Hello, I am Ana, a Maryland-based digital, graphic, and UX designer. I have loved hands-on design and composition since I was a kid, drawing in my free time, playing with paint and chalk in the back yard, and watching intently as my mom graded logo designs at the local community college. Two passions make up the foundation of my career aspirations: accessibility design and bringing joy through design.

I am passionate about designing foraccessibility, rather than around it. I believe that accessibility drives innovation and that it has a very special place in the design world. I frequently think of the Curb-Cut Effect and how without accessibility design we would not have most of the innovations we have today. Originally, the curb cut (the slope in a sidewalk at crosswalks and in parking lots) was designed for wheelchair users to access safe pathways. However, it quickly became obvious once the curb-cuts were installed that they benefit everyone from people pushing strollers to people riding bikes. But this effect goes far beyond the curb-cut. We have closed captioning, wearable technology, text-to-speech, public elevators, street benches, and more, all because someone advocated for accessibility.

I am also a firm believer that whimsy is a crucial but depleting resource, and I aim to bring it back to life through my designs. In my own home I love bright colors and retro furniture, but in my designs I love to explore everything from bubblegum y2k to dark academia. There is a place in design for every aesthetic to shine

I recently graduated from the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) with a B.S. in Web and Digital Design. I have earned a Web Design and Digital Design Certificate from UMGC, and I am currently completing a Google UX Design Certificate. I have experience working with small and mid-sized businesses in brand building, interactive design, usability studies, and iteration. I am proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Animate), Figma, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Movavi Suite.

I am excited to get to work and get creative!
