2024 | WRTG 393 Advanced Technical Writing

For this project, I wrote detailed instructions as well as a quick start guide for how to complete a task on a website of my choosing.

I wanted to showcase a local business and I landed on Chappelle and Co. in Frederick, Maryland. Chappelle and Co. is an inspiring business that works with local artisans to promote and sell their artwork. The company is very community based and the owner does themed candle making workshops to help the artistic community grow and thrive. I loved the idea of contributing to the space created by Chappelle and Co. by writing an instructional guide that could help guide users in engaging with the business.

For this assignment, I chose to write instructions for booking a candle making session at Chappelle and Co.

I started by creating three personas for people who might be looking to schedule a candle making session at Chappelle and Co.

second persona for Chappelle and Co. candle making
first persona for Chappelle and Co. candle making
third persona for Chappelle and Co. candle making

I then went to the Chappelle and Co. website and walked through the steps to book a candle making session, taking screenshots along the way. I marked up these screenshots to outline the steps taken in the booking process.

Finally, I wrote out the steps to the booking process in a detailed instruction document as well as a quick start guide.
