For this project I designed two stamps from a hypothetical set. The theme I chose was Wonders of the World. These two stamps would be two out of a set of seven that represent each Wonder.
For the color palette, I chose inviting but adventurous colors that could be used consistently throughout the set. I chose warm oranges to represent weathered man-made landmarks, illuminated by a signature glowing sun in each stamp design. I chose two different shades of green with the visually heavier of the two (the darker green) drawing the eye to the names of the Wonders and green elements within them such as the mountains in Machu Picchu.
I focused on creating recognizable silhouettes and kept details such as outlines and depth of field to the showcased landmarks. The background of each stamp is the same, guiding the audience’s view to the monuments of each stamp.
