For this assignment, I was instructed to choose a real business to redesign a set of logos for.

I chose a space themed record shop as my inspiration and designed five versions of my logo in Adobe Illustrator (color, black and white, horizontal, square, vertical, and web).

I believe all forms of art are special and wanted to use this project to showcase the beauty of physical media. After settling on designing a logo for a record shop, I searched for a record shop name that would inspire me. Eventually, I found a shop called “Space Record Shop” (unfortunately it does not seem to still be in business) which reminded me of the “retro futurism” aesthetic - think The Jetsons. This aesthetic gained traction during the space race and is a fun snapshot in time of what we believed the future might look like in the 60s.

For this project I got the opportunity to experiment in Adobe Illustrator with a retro style that I love. In the report below I will take you through the design process behind these pieces.
